Our Summer Camp Theme
Hello! My name is Lauren Johnson and I am the program director for camp this summer (2020). I am from Knoxville, Pennsylvania, and am currently working toward obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Elementary education. I have loved working with children for as long as I can remember. From babysitting to helping with church events like VBS to chasing my cousins around at family gatherings to going on a service trip and experiencing the joy of inner-city children, I’m always amazed and encouraged by the spirit of a child.
I am so excited to come back to PYC this summer as the program director. Our theme for this summer is “Relentless.” We are going to start out the week explaining God’s relentless love for the campers. We will talk about how God’s love for us stays the same regardless of the mistakes we’ve made, our pasts, or anything at all. God is always pursuing us with the same unconditional, boundless, RELENTLESS love. God loved us so much that He sent His only son, Jesus, to come to earth so that He could die on the cross for our sins. The week will come to a close, and we will send out the kids, challenging them to love others the way that Jesus loves us. I am so excited to let God work through the theme this summer. We believe that fruitful conversations will be had, and the campers will leave with changed hearts. The staff at Penn-York have already been seeing God move and speak through the theme for this summer. You won’t want to miss out on the chance for Jesus to completely change your life at Penn-York Camp.
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8: 38-39 NLT
